### Job Description: Textbook Copy Editor **Role Overview** The Book Development department is seeking a meticulous and collaborative Textbook Copy Editor to join our dynamic team. In this full-time, mid-level role, you will serve as a crucial bridge between raw academic content and the final, polished educational materials used by students and instructors worldwide. You will be responsible for ensuring that our textbooks maintain the highest standards of clarity, consistency, and pedagogical effectiveness. By bridging the gap between complex subject matter and accessible language, you will help shape the learning experience for thousands of students. **Key Responsibilities** As a Textbook Copy Editor, you will oversee the editorial lifecycle of diverse educational manuscripts, ranging from STEM and social sciences to humanities. Your daily responsibilities will include performing rigorous line editing and proofreading to ensure adherence to style guides (e.g., APA, Chicago), correcting syntax and grammar, and verifying the technical accuracy of complex figures and tables. You will work closely with acquisitions editors, project managers, and subject matter experts to ensure that revisions are implemented accurately and that the tone remains consistent throughout the developmental process. Additionally, you will play a key role in quality control, ensuring that all digital and print components are polished, error-free, and meet our internal quality benchmarks before publication. **Candidate Profile** We are looking for a mid-level professional with at least 3–5 years of copy editing experience, preferably within the academic or educational publishing sector. The ideal candidate possesses a sharp eye for detail, a deep mastery of English grammar, and the ability to manage multiple manuscripts simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. You are comfortable navigating complex content and are adept at using industry-standard tools and project management software. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will frequently collaborate with remote authors and internal stakeholders to resolve stylistic queries and maintain project timelines. A bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a related field—or equivalent industry experience—is required. **Why Join Us?** Joining our Book Development team offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the future of education. We provide a supportive, collaborative environment where your expertise is valued and professional growth is encouraged. We take pride in creating high-quality textbooks that empower learners, and we are looking for a passionate editor who is eager to contribute to our mission of educational excellence. If you are a lifelong learner who thrives on perfecting the written word and wants to play a pivotal role in the production of high-impact textbooks, we invite you to apply and grow your career with us.
